Betty Parker will demonstrate the traditional art of braiding rugs from pieces of fabric.
Dowsing Demonstration
Join local Dowser Danny Wason as he practices this ancient art on the History Center lawn. Dowsers most commonly use branches and metal rods to find water and other things underground.

Story teller Marion Posner will talk about her art, and lead a workshop in storytelling. Just in time for our community story share at our annual picnic!

Wooden Spoon Carving
Will Robinson will demonstrate the fine country art of spoon carving, as well as show his fascinating collection of “treen-ware”, or historical wooden ware, all found in New Hampshire. This includes a rare chance to see a pair of colonial era wooden tankards.
Spinning Demonstration
We are happy to have the “Madison Warped Weavers” again at the History Center, demonstrating the traditional art of spinning wool.
Snow Shoe and Dog Sled Building
Bob and Ryan Cottrell will demonstrate the Traditional Arts of snowshoe and dog sled building.
Chocorua Byways, an Old Roads Walk
Paul, longtime surveyor and local history buff and a member of the Tamworth Road Study Committee, will give a brief history of the evolution of the roads and then lead a moderate walk of about 1.5 miles on the Sanger Road, (aka Red Gate Path) a Class VI Town Road.

Join us on our lawn for a potluck lunch and an appreciation of all the many people who have made our renovation of the Hall Dyer building possible. Join us in thanking our tradespeople and donors, grantors, and many volunteers who have come together to construct this community asset. Followed by our annual business meeting and a program TBA. Bring your favorite or most nostalgic dish. In case of rain we will move indoors.

"Hills and Hikers Fun Day” at the Tamworth History Center
Join us for a day celebrating our history of getting out in the hills in Tamworth! Come choose a guided community hike in the morning, and stay for fun activities for all ages in the afternoon, followed by a delicious BBQ. More information to come!
Volunteer Open House
Come and learn about the many different ways to get involved in the THC, get a training to be docent if that will be your role, and get a tour of this years exhibit.
We are primarily looking for volunteers who can help at our welcome desk and gift shop during open hours, for two hour shifts on Wednesday and Saturday 11-3. All you need is an interest in local history, whether you have lived here your whole life or just moved here! We are also looking for volunteers in data entry, event audio and video recording, and for our summer family picnic and hike day on July 22nd.

A Family Story and Memorabilia As Social History
Join local historian Richard Posner for a look at how objects from family history can tell stories not only about your family past, but also give insight into wider social history of their time.

Tamworth Village Stories
Inside the History Center Hall Dyer building on Main Street, posters & exhibits tell the story of Tamworth Village buildings. This is a continuation of last summer’s and this summer’s posters on Main Street, accompanied by updated exhibits - details and artifacts of mills, stores and post offices, libraries, churches, and meeting houses, blacksmiths, dance halls, theatres, tea houses, and private homes, through the years. The Hall Dyer building is now open for special events and by appointment.
